TOY LIFT!
December 7, 2012
Tom Powell, Manager of our QuickLane service at Colonial Auto Center, began Toy Lift in 1988 when he decided to perch himself eighty feet up in a bucket truck in Charlottesville. He stayed there until people donated 1,000 toys, which Tom then distributed to local children in need. Toy Lift has now grown into a huge annual community event. On December 7, Tom will climb the ladder and again ask our community to come together. Please consider donating some toys!

Alex's Lemonade Stand
October 25, 2012
Every year, Volvo of Charlottesville holds an event in support of the UVA Children's Hospital. This year, they partnered with a national non-profit called Alex's Lemonade Stand. Volvo employee, Chris Purvis, built a terrific lemonade stand and on October 25 set it up in a local shopping center. With support from The Charlottesville Newsplex, our team raised over $3000 for Alex's Lemonade Stand! To bring it back to the local focus, CMA President Liza Borches and Newsplex GM Brad Ramsay then presented the UVA Children's Hospital with a matching donation. That's more than $6000 raised in one day to fight pediatric cancer!

GOLFING FOR GOOD
June 4, 2012
On June 4, four CMA stores came together to support the Mac McDonald Invitational, benefitting the UVA Childrens's Hospital. Each Par 3 on the course gave players the opportunity to win a car. Colonial Auto Center provided a 2012 GMC Acadia, Valley Honda a 2011 Honda Pilot, Valley VW a 2012 Volkswagen CC and Volvo of Charlottesville a 2012 S60. Unfortunately, none of the players got a hole-in-one so the cars came back home to us. But hopefully our participation raised the level of excitement and therefore more money for the Hospital!

GETTING CREATIVE with a FOOD DRIVE
December 2011
All of our stores work with local food banks to provide families with healthy, nourishing food items. In December 2011, Valley Volkswagen in Staunton got creative. They opened up a new 2012 VW CC on the showroom and challenged customers to "Stuff the Trunk." Not only did they fill the trunk, but the back seat and some boxes as well! All donated items went to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank Network, which feeds thousands of people throughout Central Virginia.

VALLEY'S COMMUNITY DAY
July 2011
Last Summer, our two stores in Staunton, VA sponsored an all-day long event for the Valley. Valley Honda and Valley Volkswagen invited everyone in the community to meet representatives of local healthcare, law enforcement and non-profit groups. The day included a blood drive with Virginia Blood Services and a Food Drive for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. In fact, if anyone brought at least 5 cans of food, they had a shot at one of our GM's (Scott Simons and Shawn Ayers pictured here) in the dunking booth! Look for this to become an annual event!
